Bronze sculptor Mairi Hunt was born and brought up in the beautiful and remote Scottish Borders. Her parents were farmers and she was home educated with her brothers and sisters. Sculpture has always been her passion starting from an early age digging clay from the ditches on the farm and turning it into animal sculptures.

Her first full time job was as an apprentice with the acclaimed ceramics company Border Fine Arts specialising in animal sculpture. Following her marriage she travelled widely before returning to her husband's family home on Dartmoor where they have farmed and raised their two children.

Sculptor Mairi Hunt works from her studio in the beautiful secluded Dartmoor valley where she lives creating original animal sculptures in bronze. Fascinated in animal forms and movement she has succeeded in incorporating this into her new collection of sculptures. Many of these pieces of sculpture are inspired by the wildlife and farm animals around her.  Having the real live animal in front of her while sculpting enables Mairi to capture the true essence of the subject.

The pieces are cast in bronze using the lost wax process and each piece of sculpture is a limited edition, signed, dated and numbered.

Commissioned works have included many life size bronze animal sculptures one of which was the life size Woburn stag commissioned for the Duke of Bedford and featured on the television series Woburn.
